Her father Krishnaraj is a senior Army scientist and died in March of 2017. The mother Vrinda was a housewife. She returned to Bollywood to star in the success Dhoom: 2 (2006) prior to releasing Provoked: A True Story (2006) in English. She was married to Abhishek Bachchan, co-star, who is the child of Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan. This marriage has brought two of India's most prominent personalities to one another.
